Lace for the High Sheriff

A bit of a throwback post to two years ago, when I was one of the lacemakers who made the cuffs and jabot for the High Sheriff of East Yorkshire.  

Together with the amazing tailors at Cock of the Walk in Hull, Wolds Lacemakers have been commissioned to make lace for a number of the high sheriffs. The 23-24 Sheriff was Tina Cerutti, owner and chef at local fish restaurant Cerrutis 2, and she requested some non-fussy lace for her ceremonial outfit.

Julie Medland designed the lace and incorporated both a fish and a scallop edge to tie in with Tina’s profession. 

A small group of us worked on individual pieces of lace which Julie then joined together for the finished outfit.

It was a real pleasure and privilege to work on this commission and as always, I picked up a couple of new techniques whilst working on it.
